Offers:
ØBalance
of informational text and
literature. ØComplexity of text – whole class reads/discusses text together, then in small breakout groups, students will receive reinforcement and extended lessons as needed. (These breakout groups can change on a daily basis.)
ØBalance with writing that is linked directly with the day’s reading. “Let’s write like the author.”
ØKnowledge of other disciplines—the text pieces incorporate social studies and science topics within the reading.
ØWord power—Tier One, Two, and Three vocabulary includes academic and domain specific vocabulary.
